Project details The Missing Maps project aims to map the most vulnerable places in the world (affected by humanitarian crises: disease epidemics, conflict, natural disasters, poverty, environmental crises). Building on HOT's disaster preparedness projects, the Missing Maps tasks facilitate preemptive mapping of priority countries to better facilitate disaster response, medical activities and resource allocation when crises occur.
The American Red Cross is working with the Bangladesh Red Crescent to map several areas in Dhaka for a long term disaster risk reduction project. The data created during the remote mapping will be ground truthed using Field Papers and OpenMapKit, a digital mapping application developed by the American Red Cross and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team.
Imagery details Through the MapGive project, the Humanitarian Information Unit (HIU) of the U.S. Department of State is providing the OpenStreetMap community access to updated satellite imagery services to help assist with humanitarian mapping.
This imagery is from Digital Globe’s WorldView-3 satellite, and is made up of an image taken on November 7th 2015. The image is orthorectified for terrain corrected geographic precision. Additionally, the image has been contrast stretched using a custom stretch and processed into a Tiled Map Service (TMS) for performance.Created by aHaSaN - Updated - Priority: medium

OSM Tasking Manager is a mapping tool designed and built for the Humanitarian OSM Team collaborative mapping. The purpose of the tool is to divide up a mapping job into smaller tasks that can be completed rapidly. It shows which areas need to be mapped and which areas need the mapping validated.
This approach facilitates the distribution of tasks to the various mappers in a context of emergency. It also permits to control the progress and the homogeinity of the work done (ie. Elements to cover, specific tags to use, etc.).
This version of the Tasking Manager is geared toward classroom instructors, or any other individuals leading a coordinated group in a team-mapping project.
