The Malagasy Red Cross Society in partnership with the Norwegian Red Cross, the German Red Cross and the Danish Red Cross is aiming to produce evacuations road maps in rural and urban areas illustrating appropriate actions to undertake in order to facilitate community, families and schools evacuation before a hazard strikes. Contingency plans have been designed in coordination with the communities during participatory sessions where hazard occurrence, evacuation routes, rally points and safe areas have been identified. By mapping those rural areas environment you will contribute to map poorly documented rural Malagasy areas, support the design of comprehensive evacuation maps that will ensure that everybody understands what he has to do when lives are in stake and facilitate further quantitative analysis on the areas at risk. This task is supported by the Netherland Red Cross while other areas will be mapped locally by the Malagasy OSM community as training material for new volunteers.
